What Is a Raga? A Raga is not just a musical scale—it is a living, emotional entity (Ranjayati Iti Raagah: that which colors the mind). Each Raga has a specific set of ascending and descending Swars, key emotional notes (Vadi/Samvadi), and a designated time of day when its melody resonates deepest.
